Your summer is a tale of two cities in London and Barcelona. For eight glorious weeks, you’ll dive into British life and live like a Spaniard—exploring two distinct cultures, landscapes, and paces. In stately London, grab a black umbrella and jump on a double-decker bus as you traverse the city to drink high tea, tour grand museums, curtsy at Buckingham Palace, and listen to soapboxers at Speakers’ Corner. You’ll study at the picturesque University of Roehampton. In spunky, seaside Barcelona, feel the rhythm of a siesta-loving culture, eat tapas, people watch on La Rambla, and gaze at the impressive Gaudi architecture. Advance your Spanish skills and your degree as you become a world traveler.
Here are some things to expect while on this unique program:
- Spanish language courses or courses in English while in Barcelona
- Opportunity to live with international students in residence halls in London
- Trips to famous places, such as the Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, and the British Museum
- Easy access to Barcelona's beautiful beaches, bustling plazas, and impressive architecture
- Catalan/Spanish cooking class or a Flamenco music and dance show in Barcelona
London and Barcelona are two of Western Europe’s most exciting and cultured cities. You'll live in bustling London and colorful Barcelona. Which city will be your favorite? It'll be a toss up!
London is a hotspot for art, fashion, film, history, music, theater, and nightlife. Explore some of the many diverse markets and eclectic neighborhoods across the city, such as the punk-rock-inspired Camden market and the antique-laden Portobello Road. Visit the Globe Theatre to see some of Shakespeare’s famous works performed live. Many of London’s museums are free and house some of the most renowned works of art and artifacts. Cruise down the Thames or ride the London Eye for sweeping views of the spectacular city below. As the saying goes, coined by famous author Samuel Johnson, “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.”
Barcelona is one of the top tourist and study abroad destinations in the world. Its incredible location on the shores of the Mediterranean gives it a delightful mild climate year round. Tourists and locals alike adore the spirited excitement that you'll feel wandering the streets. The second-largest city in Spain has two official languages, Castilian Spanish and Catalan. It’s the perfect place to challenge yourself and practice your own Spanish skills, while also learning more about the unique Catalan history and culture.
